Terpenes are the compounds responsible for the way all plants smell. They are what gives the plant its fragrance and taste. Terpenes are very unique and interesting when it comes to cannabis.

There are more than 400 terpenes in cannabis, but here are the most common and popular:

Myrcene - gives an earthy, musky, ripe fruit scent and flavour

Pinene - is just like it sounds…piney, rosemary, herby

Limonene - lemon, lime, citrusy

Linalool - delicious scents and flavours of sweet floral & lavender 

Beta-Caryophyllene - warm essences of peppery and spiced wood

So what does this mean for you? Scent and taste are a very personal thing for everyone. While some prefer stronger more musky scents and flavours others prefer a lighter more fresh scent. Terpenes are what gives you the flavours that you are looking for. The higher the terpene percent the more flavour you will get.
